Application for Phase 3 Funds Made

New London-Greenwich Rail Trail Inc. has applied to the state Department of Transportation for funds to help cover the third, final and costliest phase of our trail improvements. The project includes a bridge where the U.S. 250 overpass crosses the Vermilion River in Fitchville Township. The span will have an 8- to 9-inch-thick deck, galvanized-steel posts and board facing. Plans call for a portion of the path and riverbanks to be cemented to prevent and reduce erosion.
